Welcome!
Welcome to all things tarot! I'm excited to learn along with other tarot enthusiaists, new or advanced. Though this class is linked to the online course "Learning the Tarot" we will be following our own lessons and pace. I will have materials available for us each week and we'll have lots of time to practice using the tarot for ourselves and others. Please note that the website listed (i.e., Joan Bunning's "Learning the Tarot" is only a resource. We will have a different schedule to follow.
Please feel free to email me with any questions at any time. I look forward to meeting you all on March 12!
Best,
Cynthia A. Hogan, Ph.D.
Course materials we'll use
The Tarot is having a moment! In this class, we will begin wiht an introduction to the Tarot, then review Tarot's history (origins through today), before focusing on one of the best known Tarot decks produced by occultist and author A.E. Waite and designed by Pamela Coleman Smith. This deck is known variously as the Rider-Waite Tarot or the Smith-Waite Tarot and is one of the most popular and enduring decks. We'll use the Smith-Waite Tarot to dive deep into Tarot symbolism, learn different styles and methods of reading and using the cards for ourselves and others, and finally trace connections to other spiritual traditions.
