Hello there! I am originally from South Korea and moved to San Francisco, CA in 2011. In 2018, I relocated to Pittsburgh, PA to pursue my Master's degree at Carnegie Mellon University. It was during this time that I began volunteering to teach Korean classes. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing yoga, bouldering, and blogging (https://blog.naver.com/data-scientist-luna).

Welcome!
Welcome everyone,
This is CLP Korean Class, Beginner Level. We are happy to have you all in our learning circle! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions about the learning circle via email: soyongs@andrew.cmu.edu
We want to inform you of our Korean class schedule for this week and upcoming changes for next week.
Starting next week (May 6th), we will be reorganizing our classes to better accommodate our students' needs:
- Advanced class (formerly Intermediate; textbook 6): 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
- Intermediate class (formerly Beginner; textbook 2 and 3): 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm
- Beginner class (formerly Beginner; textbook 1 and 2): 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm
Please, note that the Beginner classes will now be split into two groups and will have a shorter duration of 45 minutes. Additionally, we will be incorporating YouTube videos to aid in Hangul learning.
We're excited to continue learning and growing with you all in the upcoming classes!
Course materials we'll use
In this beginner-level class, we will use the textbook published by the Korean government for foreigners who learn Korean as a secondary language.
To get the most out of the class, it is recommended that you have a basic understanding of how to read and write Korean characters, known as 'Hangul'. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to expand your vocabulary and gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively organize sentence structures.
We recommend utilizing these resources if you are learning Hangul for the first time.
- Learn Hangul (Korean Alphabet)
