Welcome!
Welcome to a learning circle of individuals that are passionate about Italian language, literature, culture and immersive conversation at an intermediate level. We meet for 60 minutes of Italian conversation weekly which includes warm up discussion on current events, then transition to conversation around an Italian book. Our fall book was In Altre Parole da Jhumpa Lahiri. Our winter book is La Figlia Oscura da Elena Ferrante. In the Spring I'm hopeful that we will have group interest in Gli indifferenti or La noia by Alberto Moravia, La luna e i falo' by Cesare Pavese or a collection of Italian short stories. In addition to conversation we may engage in supplemental video, journaling or or other writing exercises between our weekly conversation based on the groups interests.
Course materials we'll use
A typical session includes introductions, casual conversations, focused round table discussion on the week's reading, an exchange of observations, reflections, and perceptions. Conversation flows naturally with shared insights and follow-up questions to each other. The conversation is consistently in Italian and members of the group support each other with when needed. The experience is fun, immersive and often inspiring. You may choose to purchase or borrow the book or tune into the video series whereever you get your streaming service.
