The 1619 Project is an ongoing initiative from The New York Times Magazine that began in August 2019, the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.” The Learning Circle will allow participants to read through the essays available through The 1619 Project and discuss the topics related to those essays.

Trying to decide if it should be less weeks.
I felt this was a really productive learning circle and we all learned a lot from both the readings and discussions with each other. We were able to work collaboratively to determine the direction of the conversations and provided an environment where participants felt comfortable sharing their personal experiences and observations without feeling judged or criticized, which was very helpful in building a more rich conversation, and allowed us to connect with each other in ways we might not have without this opportunity.
I used the facilitator guide for this one since it wasn't a typical online course, but it helped me a lot when putting together an outline of running the course. I made my own changes to it, but it was an excellent starting point.
